Palatine Hill continued...

A few more images from Saturday. There is a spot on the Palatine Hill that provides a spectacular view of the forum.

Within the Palatine Hill are the Farnese Garden though there isn't much actual garden left.

And then the homes and other structures...

While taking photos of the place, I became aware of the reality I was editing out. The other tourists, for example. And the renovation and construction obstacles such as fences that always seemed to turn up exactly where one wanted to be.

The house of Augustus was a site that was more carefully monitored than any other part of the area.  They allowed only about ten of us in at a time and the attendants never very far away.

Next was the forum itself.

Palatine Hill

It was time to finally become familiar with the bit of Rome that is my neighbor: Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum.  I set out early and began with Palatine Hill.

A view of the Colosseo from Palatine.

The place is full of patterns and these often caught my eye...

It was tempting to abstract some of these.
There were many details and fragments to study and appreciate.

Many more photos to process and share...
